Celebrating the courageous, enthusiastic, and determined youth leaders of tomorrow
Dear ReWilder,Β
Today we introduce you to two youth climate justice activists - Caleb Kay, Youth@SAIIA Youth Activist, and Lisakhanya Mathiso, Project 90 by 2030 YouLead Warrior. Weβre the first generation to feel the impacts of climate change, though not the last. Our youth are delicately poised here and are likely to feel the full force of our climate crisis.
βThe power of youth is the common wealth for the entire world. The faces of young people are the faces of our past, our present and our future. No segment in the society can match with the power, idealism, enthusiasm and courage of the young people.β - Kailash Satyarthi
In South Africa, we look to our youth, the leaders of tomorrow, to strive for more equitable social and ecological futures. With youth unemployment at an all-time high, with inadequate education access, and a lack of institutional support for many of our youth, it is our responsibility to uplift and empower our future leaders. To listen to their opinions, and empower them to believe that their voices are valid and heard.Β
βEvery individual has a way of thinking, we are all very unique, and we all have very unique skills, and if we combine those skills together, we could make something that is tangible, something that is solid, and could benefit the whole of us.β - Lisakhanya Mathiso
We are listening.Β Are you?
