Dear ReWilder,
Who speaks for the wild ones? Since 2016 we’ve been asking the question - what solutions exist for ecological restoration? Below is a highlights reel of some of the solutions ReWild Africa has met along the way, accompanied by the launch of our latest featured film - Not On Our Soil: A Climate Justice Reality.
Standing for the Wild Ones 🎬
We are proud to present to you our very own manifesto of sorts, ReWilds very first showreel! A lot of time and energy has been put into this piece that allows us to showcase our work to you. Through film, education and experiences - we aim to showcase and work with individuals and organisations who are committed to socially and ecologically sustainable futures.
This film is made up of 19 voices of individuals we have filmed across Southern Africa and other parts of the world, over a period of 6 years. This is a short piece bringing together the voices of these people to speak to why ReWild exists and how we address our mission. From our early days of mapping out trails for Google to addressing the link between social injustices and Climate Change for Action 24 - we are who we work with. ReWild Africa is incredibly grateful for the stories of solutions that we have been able to witness and tell, as well as the inspiring individuals we get to meet on these projects.
We’d love to hear how this film made you feel, so please let us know via the comments section on YouTube! This is a massive thank you to all those individuals and organisations.

Not On Our Soil: A Climate Justice Reality - Feature Film 🌱
During the harsh lockdown of 2020, ReWild Africa was honoured to have the opportunity to work with Action 24 and the African Climate Reality Project, to help create thematic stories of climate change impact at various levels in South Africa. We focused on 5 themes of engagement; Youth, Civil Society, Gender, Community, and Journalism. This feature film is an amalgamation of these themes and speaks about the ways in which different lived experiences on the ground differ in climate realities.

Everyone has the right to a safe and healthy environment, yet South Africans are experiencing extreme climate and environmental injustices all around the country. But, with the knowledge and understanding of our democracy, our rights, and how we can take part in the decisions that affect our future, comes the responsibility and empowerment to actively engage elected representatives and advocate for an equitable and sustainable transition to a low-carbon and inclusive society.

Platforms like the Waterbear Network mark the beginning of making these stories accessible and available to a wide range of audiences. Documentaries and journalism play an important role in leveraging information to make challenges and solutions transparent and readily available for public viewing. Without these processes, it is difficult to hold people, governments, and corporations accountable. We are passionate about storytelling that addresses solutions to ecological restoration, transparent journalism, and accessible narrative- and nature-based solutions.
